In Southern California, it
doesn't take Springtime to get our C1's out of the garage. We can
drive them most all year around. But this is Springtime again and
as in past years, we are having our bi-annual Tech Session, Spring '08.
The Tech Sessions during 2007
were both held at a grand facility belonging to Toyota Co. with two of
our members working for Toyota. This year, another member of
SoCalSACC, Kent Browning #118, invited us to his facility located
centrally in our So. Cal. Chapter Region. As in the past, the So.
Cal. Chapter Technical Advisor Chip Werstein was organizing the Event.
Although Chip was home recovering from a knee replacement, the Event
went off with a splendid success. Chip began these Tech Sessions
almost 3 years ago starting in his garage, and this latest was the best
attended session yet. Our final count was 36 C1's and a paid
attendance of 90 people of which 76 are current members.
Kent Browning, who owns a
local automobile dealership, is also affiliated with the original
Browning Oldsmobile. Kent recently acquired this facility and has
only recently began consolidating his collection. Below are shots
of the event and his set-up is so clean and spacious we could have all
eaten off the floor.
Four speakers entertained
our group over this several hour Event. After two sessions, a
catered lunch was enjoyed by everyone.
The initial speaker was Ed
Justice Jr. of Justice Bros. Oil. This nationally known company is
located locally and their history goes back into the 1940's when Ed and
Zeke Justice did a lot of racing and developed many of the oil additives
which can be found on Auto Parts Stores everywhere.
Our second speaker was Ron
Lefler, #91, who spoke on the restoration of C1 hardtops.
After lunch, , from Eurobody
Painting held a Q&A session on C1 painting. This speaker is
currently painting a '60 Covette body for Chip Werstein. The Q&A
lasted the full 45 minutes with many questions coming from the audience.
The final speaker was Larry
Pearson, #5C, and he discussed electrical needs in our C1's and missing
such items a key grounding straps can create many problem. He also
discussed wiring of taillights and parking lights. |
